What a Year It Has Been for Change the Type

As we close out another year, we take a moment to reflect with gratitude, pride, and hope on all that Change the Type has accomplished. This year reminded us why this work matters — and how powerful community can be when people come together with purpose.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, partners, volunteers, and community members, Change the Type was able to fundraise hundreds of dollars and impact hundreds of students across the Triangle and throughout North Carolina. Every dollar donated, every hour volunteered, and every message shared helped us move closer to our mission of empowering young people and challenging harmful stereotypes.

Throughout the year, we continued spreading our core message: that our youth are more than the labels placed on them. Through community engagement, resource sharing, and intentional programming, we worked to change the narrative, change access, and change outcomes for Black and Brown students.

One of the most meaningful parts of this year was witnessing the way our community showed up — from families and students who trusted us, to partners who opened doors, to supporters who believed in our vision even as we continue to grow. Your belief fuels our work and reminds us that impact doesn’t always start big, but it always starts with purpose.

This year also marked a season of growth behind the scenes. We strengthened our foundation, expanded our reach, and began laying the groundwork for even bigger milestones ahead. As we look toward the future, we are excited to continue building programs that uplift, educate, and advocate for the next generation.
