Change the Type LLC Donates Bookbags to Students in Western North Carolina

This back-to-school season, Change the Type LLC had the opportunity to extend our impact beyond Raleigh and support families in Western North Carolina still facing challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Through the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and community partners, we provided more than 70 bookbags filled with school supplies to students at Hominy Valley Elementary School in Candler, NC. These supplies will help ensure that each child begins the school year equipped and confident — regardless of circumstance.

For many of these families, recovery has been slow and resources have been stretched thin. By easing the financial burden of school preparation, our goal was not only to provide tangible support but to remind students and caregivers that their community is standing with them.

Why This Matters

Change the Type was founded to serve and uplift young people by providing access, advocacy, and support. Education is one of the most critical entry points to empowerment. When children are equipped with the tools they need to thrive, they are better able to learn, lead, and imagine what is possible for their future.
