Change the Type Celebrates Successful 6th Annual Back-to-School Drive, Serving More Than 175 Students

Community support helped make this year's Back-to-School Drive the organization's largest yet, providing Triangle students and families with school supplies, resources, and a day of fun.
Change the Type, Inc. is proud to celebrate the successful completion of our 6th Annual Back-to-School Drive, held Friday, August 7, 2026, at Biltmore Hills Community Center in Raleigh. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and donors, we served more than 175 students throughout the Triangle, exceeding our goal of 150.
For six years, our Back-to-School Drive has brought people together around a shared purpose: helping students begin the school year with the supplies, resources, and support they need to succeed. This year's event was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in its young people.
More Than School Supplies: A Day of Community and Connection
Our annual Back-to-School Drive is about more than backpacks and classroom essentials. It's about creating an environment where students feel supported, families can connect with valuable resources, and young people know their community is rooting for them.
Families enjoyed free school supplies, food, entertainment, games, raffle giveaways, and other family-friendly activities. Students also had opportunities to receive free haircuts and enjoy a fun-filled evening before heading into a new school year.

Every interaction, donation, and helping hand contributed to making this year's event a memorable experience for the families we serve.
A Community Effort Worth Celebrating
An event of this size would not be possible without people and organizations willing to invest their time, resources, and support in our mission.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the sponsors and community partners who helped make this year's Back-to-School Drive a success, including:
Raleigh Fire Department
City of Raleigh
Accelerating Men
NC ElevatED
Vision RDU
Celebration Church
Urban One Radio
We are equally grateful to the many additional sponsors, local businesses, community organizations, vendors, donors, and volunteers who contributed to this year's event.

From collecting school supplies and providing resources to volunteering on-site and spreading the word, every contribution made a difference. We appreciate everyone who helped us reach more than 175 students and families throughout the Triangle.
Six Years of Investing in Our Students
Since its founding in 2016, Change the Type has worked to empower youth and families through education, advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement. What began as a classroom project has grown into a community-driven nonprofit committed to connecting young people and families with opportunities and resources to thrive.
This year's turnout reflects the continued importance of community partnerships and accessible resources for students and families.
As we celebrate this milestone, we are reminded that our work doesn't end when the last backpack is distributed. We remain committed to supporting young people, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for our community to thrive throughout the year.
Help Us Continue the Mission
Although this year's Back-to-School Drive has ended, you can still support Change the Type and the communities we serve.
You can help us continue our work by donating, volunteering at future events, becoming a community partner, or sharing our mission with others.
Every contribution helps us continue providing meaningful resources and opportunities for youth and families.
Thank You for Making a Difference
To every sponsor, partner, volunteer, donor, and family who joined us this year: thank you.
Your generosity helped make our 6th Annual Back-to-School Drive our largest yet. More importantly, you helped remind more than 175 students that their community believes in them and wants to see them succeed.
We are proud of what we accomplished together, and we look forward to continuing this work with you.
Together, we're helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond.
